    • Cheerleaders cheer at all YAC home football games and away games at Mahopac, Somers and Brewster, either Saturdays or Sundays, through the fall. Game schedules will be distributed in Sept.
  • Competitions, TENTATIVE dates are listed in the Documents Tab
* Please note that the YAC Cheerleading Camp is the time when the competition routine will be taught and finalized. Team members will be placed in stunt groups, and places for the routines. It is extremely important that ALL YAC Cheerleaders participate in the camp The camp in August is a critical portion of the practice schedule. When all team members participate in the August camp (work hard and listen to their coaches) the teams are historically better prepared to start the season and compete.
** Cheerleading is a huge commitment and cannot be done on a part time basis.  Attendance is critical to the success of the squad. Routines/stunts cannot be learned and performed if full squad is not in attendance at all practices. Cheerleaders are encouraged to come to practice even if they cannot cheer due to an injury or minor illness (cramps, allergies, etc). That way they can still learn what’s new and not have a recorded absence.
Each stunt group consists of 4 athletes, when even 1 athlete is absent, the entire stunt group cannot practice. Therefore, beginning September 14th, three or more absences will result in removal from competition.  It is important that your child attends practices in August (this is the time they learn cheers and stunt positions are determined).
We look forward to an enjoyable cheerleading season

Regards,
Karen Donaldson
